How to Brief a Production Studio: What to Send Before the First Call
A short guide to writing a brief that gets you a useful answer from a production studio: goals, audience, deliverables, timeline and references.
Short answer: a good brief fits on one page and answers six questions. The clearer it is, the faster a studio can come back with a real plan.
The six things to include
- , Goal: what should this campaign achieve
- , Audience: who it is for and where they are
- , Deliverables: stills, film, cutdowns, formats and markets
- , Timeline: the launch date and any fixed dates before it
- , References: three to five examples of the look and feel you want
- , Constraints: approvals, brand rules and anything that cannot change
What you can leave open
You do not need the idea. If you have one, share it. If not, say so, and a studio with creative direction can build it with you.
Common mistakes
- , Describing the solution instead of the problem
- , Leaving out the launch date
- , No references, so everyone guesses the look
- , Too many goals in one campaign
Where to send it
The fastest way is a short WhatsApp message with the one-page brief or a link to it. You can also write to hello@haus808.com.
